Simone Wallenstein studied Architecture and Sustainability at the University of Stuttgart and the University of Wismar in Germany before moving to New York to pursue her professional career. She is a licensed architect and a Certified Passive House Designer (CPHD).

Simone brings more than 10 years of experience working on a wide range of projects throughout New York City and the surrounding region. Prior to joining JFA, she gained experience at several prominent New York architecture firms, including Perkins Eastman Architects, Handel Architects, and Curtis + Ginsberg Architects.

Since joining JFA, Simone has worked extensively on New York City residential and mixed-use projects, including numerous HPD submissions and affordable housing developments. Her experience includes coordination of complex zoning and code requirements, consultant coordination, project documentation, and, since the adoption of City of Yes, Universal Affordability Preference (UAP) submissions.

Sustainable and high-performance design has been a consistent focus throughout Simone’s education and professional career. As a Certified Passive House Designer, she brings knowledge of energy-efficient building design as well as mass timber, embodied carbon, and strategies for reducing the environmental impact of buildings. She works to integrate these considerations with the practical, technical, and regulatory requirements of affordable housing development.
